Minerva has a selection of pots outside with a selection of different plants. From circular iron planters with various types of flower in them, to hanging baskets. One large pot has a variety of herbs which we use to make healthy food for the students, another has bay trees with flowers and there is a small wooden planter containing camelia and lobelia plants. There is even a wisteria tree which takes extra watering; we hope that one day it will flower.
Minerva is currently enlisting the aid of students and carers to help maintain these and brighten up the front of the building. From next year though, 3 of the planters will be cared for by Hexham in Bloom voluntary group.
